Wedding Flower Budgeting

3/8/2021

One of the most common queries we receive is for information on packages and pricing. With that in mind we thought it might be helpful to put together a summary of what floral elements can be included for different budgets and why we don't create wedding flower packages.

When planning your wedding flowers, it’s important to know that there’s flexibility when it comes to both budgeting and the various elements you include in your day.

  1. Decide how important flowers are to you as a couple for your wedding day – do you feel the flowers and styling will set the tone for your day or do you fall into the ‘I’m not a flower person’ category.
  2. Consider your venue – does it need an abundance of additional florals and styling or is it a gorgeous space where only accents of florals are needed?

While there’s no hard and fast rule, we suggest
your floral budget accounts for 10-15% of your
overall wedding budget. If you have an
overflowing pinterest board of floral dream’s
we would suggest allocating 20-25% of
your total wedding budget.

We want to get to know our couples, take into account your venue and personal style, which is why we don’t offer set packages. We want to ensure that your wedding florals compliment the elements of your special day.

The following budget guides include what we find are wedding day floral staples. Once you decide on your budget and floral must have’s we can then guide you as to how to make the best use of your budget.

Under $1000
  • Perfect price point for small intimate weddings, an elopement or where your venue includes décor

  • Often, this will include a bridal bouquet, a few bridesmaid bouquets as well as buttonholes for the groom and groomsmen and buttonholes and corsages for your closest family members

  • For a more intimate wedding with a smaller bridal party it could also include a small feature installation at the ceremony or reception

$1500 – $3000
  • Bridal party flowers

  • Small table arrangements for the guest tables and bridal table at the reception Or hire of an arbour with a floral installation at the ceremony (upper end of the range would include both)

Picture
 $3500 – $5000
  • Bridal party flowers, a feature ceremony element and standard size table arrangements for the reception

  • At the upper end of this budget you could also include additional floral elements for the ceremony and reception to enhance your venue

$5,500 – $7,500

  • This price range falls within our typical full service wedding – most often this includes bridal party flowers, a large scale ceremony floral feature, an installation at the reception, as well as large arrangements of flowers and candles for the tables.

  • At the higher end of the budget it also includes additional ceremony elements such as flowers for the signing table, signage, aisle, petal toss and additional reception elements to compliment your venue

$7,500 – $10,000
  • With this budget, we are often looking at a collection of personal flowers, large statement / impact pieces at the ceremony that will wow your nearest and dearest. For the reception, the budget could allow for a hanging feature as well as large arrangements of flowers and candles for the tables and other areas of the venue.

A few other things to consider:
  • By sharing your flower budget with us we can take your floral must haves for your day and guide you as to how to get maximum flower impact for your day.  It can sometimes be as simple as adjusting the size of your arrangements, the volume of flowers in each design or the flower types we use.
  • Expect higher costs due to Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day due to increases in flowers costs from our growers

  • COVID-19 has added 20-50% to the cost of flowers and flower budgets are not stretching as far as they used to.

  • If you have your heart set on varieties that are premium blooms or out of season and imported for your date be prepared for them eat into your flower budget too.

  • Each budget range allows for delivery and labour charges on the day for weddings local to us. We have an amazing team who work extremely hard to create magical blooms for your wedding day and there is so much work that goes on behind the scenes to create your wedding day florals.

  • Labour fees also start increasing the further away the venue is, and can vary dramatically depending on the venue. Each venue has it’s own rules for timings on when we can set up and when we need to pack down. All of this has an impact on costs for the day.

  • Every florist prices differently and it might be that florists in your area charge more or less for some items than we do. We’re hoping this information can act as a guide to help your planning and isn’t a formal quote.

We are always excited to work with couples regardless of their budget. We don’t have a minimum spend requirement and are always happy to provide suggestions on where your money is best spent, and how to get the best value from your flowers to make the greatest impact on the day.
